Introduction
Welcome to Streets of London, a serious, immersive roleplay server set in a fictional representation of the UK's capital. This server was built with one goal in mind: to provide a genuine, high-quality roleplay experience where every interaction carries weight and every character has a story worth telling.
This is not a deathmatch server. This is not a place to grief or troll. This is a community for people who are committed to the craft of character-driven storytelling within a realistic urban environment.
Every player who joins Streets of London agrees to uphold the standards set out in this document. These rules exist to protect the experience for everyone, not to restrict creativity, but to give that creativity a framework within which genuinely great roleplay can happen.
Read everything. Understand everything. And come ready to tell a story.
01SERVER RULESGeneral Conduct
General Conduct
These rules govern how players are expected to behave as members of the Streets of London community, both in-game and on all associated platforms, including Discord.
1.1 Community Standards
- Your character must have a realistic, believable name. Troll names, meme names, or names that violate platform Terms of Service will not be accepted.
- All players must comply with Twitch.tv Terms of Service and Discord Terms of Service at all times.
- Toxic behaviour, including harassment, excessive insults, personal attacks, shaming, or targeting of individuals, will not be tolerated on any platform associated with this server. This includes in-game, Discord, and any public forum.
- Speaking disrespectfully about real-life deceased individuals is strictly prohibited.
- You are not permitted to leak another player's personal information or make threats of any kind, in-game or out of character.
- Do not intimidate players into leaving the server or continuously harass them for out-of-character reasons.
- Respect one another. All actions must have justification. Saying 'it's just my character' is not a valid defence for poor or harmful roleplay.
- Homophobia, racism, misogyny, misgendering, and all forms of targeted discrimination are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal.
- Consequence Class A–D depending on severity, up to permanent removal from the community.
1.2 Zero-Tolerance Offences
- The following will result in an immediate permanent ban with no ability to appeal:
- Cheating, hacking, or using unauthorised mods or scripts that provide a gameplay advantage.
- Doxxing, sharing real-life personal information of any player.
- Real-world trading, exchanging in-game assets for real-world money.
- Any sexual roleplay involving or directed at minors.
- Chargebacks on any donations made to the server.
- Consequence Permanent ban, non-appealable.
1.3 Staff & Administration
- All staff instructions must be followed immediately and without argument.
- If you disagree with a staff decision, comply first, then raise the issue through a support ticket on the website. Never argue publicly.
- Disrespecting, harassing, or refusing to cooperate with staff will result in punishment.
- Admins have discretion to punish conduct that negatively impacts other players' roleplay experience, even if it does not fall under a specific listed rule. The standard is, 'Does this harm the experience of others?'
- Consequence Class B–D depending on severity.
02SERVER RULESRoleplay Standards
Roleplay Standards
Streets of London is a serious roleplay server. The following standards define the baseline of quality expected from every player at all times.
2.1 Remaining In Character
- Players must remain in character (IC) at all times while in the city unless an administrator instructs otherwise.
- Out of character (OOC) communication in-game should only be used when absolutely necessary and must be clearly marked. Do not use it to comment on ongoing scenes or to argue about rules mid-scene.
- If you believe a rule has been broken during a scene, finish the roleplay and report it afterward. Do not break immersion to lecture another player in the middle of a scenario.
- Bugs, desyncs, and lag are to be roleplayed through unless an admin explicitly voids the scene.
- Consequence Class B–C depending on severity.
2.2 Metagaming
- Metagaming is defined as using out-of-character information to influence in-character decisions. This includes:
- Using information seen in OOC chat, Discord, streams, or voice calls to act on in-game.
- Acting on information your character could not realistically know, for example, a location or identity revealed on a stream.
- Being in a Discord call with other players while in the city to relay in-character information.
- Recognising another character based on a player's voice or OOC knowledge rather than in-character interaction.
- Using /PM or any out-of-game communication to relay tactical information during an active scene.
- Stream sniping, watching a player's stream in order to locate or interact with them, is a permanent ban offence.
- Consequence Class C — Permanent ban for stream sniping.
2.3 Powergaming
- Powergaming is performing actions that are unrealistic, forcing outcomes on others without giving them a fair chance to respond, or gaining an unfair advantage through the game engine.
- You may not talk, organise, or call out locations while downed or incapacitated.
- Do not drive at unrealistic speeds with no in-character justification on a repeated basis.
- Do not exploit the health bar to stomp downed players to death.
- Use /me and /do commands where possible to properly describe your character's actions and the environment during roleplay scenes.
- Do not run into a property or area to escape or avoid active roleplay.
- Do not camp garages waiting to rob or kill players as they retrieve vehicles.
- Consequence Class B.
2.4 Fail Roleplay (FRP)
- Fail roleplay occurs when a player's actions, decisions, or dialogue are inconsistent with their character, the situation, or the realistic standards of the server.
- Acting invincible, ignoring injuries, or showing no fear in life-threatening situations.
- Walking away mid-scene or refusing to engage with logical roleplay that directly involves your character.
- Using game mechanics as a shortcut to avoid realistic consequences, for example, force-quitting the game (combat logging), using job vehicles to evade police, or running into a green zone to escape pursuit.
- Turning serious roleplay moments into jokes, memes, or chaos without narrative justification.
- Being AFK in an active roleplay area.
- Combat logging, quitting the game to avoid an ongoing scenario, carries an automatic ban.
- Consequence Class B–C. Combat Logging: Automatic 10-day ban.
2.5 Poor Escalation
- All conflict must be built up through meaningful roleplay before it reaches violence. Actions taken without sufficient build-up will be treated as failed roleplay and/or deathmatching.
- There must be at least two minutes of genuine in-character interaction before any robbery or assault can take place.
- You cannot initiate a hostile interaction, leave the area, and then return to continue it. The timer resets if you leave.
- 'You were standing near a nice car' or 'I just felt like it' are not valid reasons for violence or robbery.
- Consequence Class B–C depending on severity.
2.6 /me and /do Commands
- These commands exist to describe actions and the environment that cannot be conveyed through in-game animations. Use them to enhance immersion.
- /me — Describes an action your character performs. Written in third person, lowercase start, proper grammar, detailed, no profanity.
- /do — Describes the environment or asks/answers contextual questions about the scene. Must always be truthful. Not to be used for character actions.
- Always respond to /do questions directed at your character within a reasonable time. Failing to respond is considered roleplay avoidance.
- Example — Correct: /me slides her hand into her jacket pocket, fingers wrapping around a small folded note.
- Example — Incorrect: /me gives note.
- Consequence Class A–B for misuse or refusal to use.
03SERVER RULESInteractions & Conflict
Interactions & Conflict
3.1 Deathmatching (RDM & VDM)
- Killing or harming another player without sufficient in-character justification is strictly prohibited.
- Random Deathmatch (RDM): Shooting, stabbing, or attacking a player with no prior roleplay build-up or valid motive.
- Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM): Deliberately using a vehicle to injure or kill another player without narrative justification.
- Terrorism, mass violence against uninvolved players, is completely forbidden.
- Unnecessary provocation that is clearly designed to manufacture an excuse for violence also falls under this rule.
- Initiation examples — actions that constitute valid initiation of a hostile scene:
- Verbally threatening a player's life in character.
- Aiming a weapon at a player. Note: Do not aim unless you intend to follow through.
- Stealing a player's vehicle.
- Striking a player physically (punching counts after the second hit).
- Consequence Class A–C depending on severity.
3.2 Not Valuing Life (NVL)
- All players must treat their character's life as something of real value. Your character should behave in the way a real person would when faced with genuine danger.
- If you are held at gunpoint, you must comply with the instructions given to you, unless you have a clear tactical advantage.
- If you are outnumbered and armed opponents are pointing weapons at you, you must fear for your life. You cannot attempt to fight back or flee in this situation.
- In a 1v1 situation, you may attempt to defend yourself only if your weapon is already drawn before the threat is raised.
- If a hostage is being held, law enforcement and other players must value that hostage's life and conduct themselves accordingly.
- Situations where fear RP is not required:
- When you are in a vehicle with a running engine and have a clear exit route.
- When your firearm is already drawn and aimed at the aggressor before they act.
- When the attacker's line of sight is blocked or they have turned their back on you.
- Consequence Class B–C.
3.3 Robbing & Scamming
- Robbing is taking possessions by force or threat of force. Scamming is offering a good or service and failing to deliver. Both must be conducted entirely in character.
- You must have at least two minutes of in-character interaction before robbing someone.
- You cannot force a player to withdraw money from an ATM.
- You cannot force the sale of a vehicle via script commands during a robbery.
- You cannot rob a player who is actively performing a legal scripted job (e.g. delivery driving, refuse collection).
- You cannot rob or scam inside a green zone.
- You cannot rob PD or EMS service equipment.
- You cannot rob a player-owned business or restaurant.
- You cannot rob someone while driving a high-end or sports vehicle.
- Looting dead bodies is forbidden.
- 'Hands up' or 'don't move' should only be said if you intend to rob someone, not if you intend to kill them.
- Illegal purchases (drugs, weapons) must be conducted with cash only. Failure to use cash may validate a scam above the scam limit.
- A player may only commit one robbery every four hours. This cooldown applies to the entire group involved, not just the individual.
- Chain robberies will be considered unrealistic unless supported by exceptional roleplay.
- Scamming limit: Players may scam for a maximum of £20,000. Vehicles, properties, and businesses cannot be scammed.
- Scamming Consequence Rule: If you scam someone and are caught within one hour, you will be subject to a Character Kill (CK). You must remain in the city for at least one hour after scamming. Logging off within that window is treated as combat logging.
- Consequence Class A–B depending on severity.
3.4 Hostage Situations
- A single armed individual cannot force someone to comply if they are alone. The target may attempt to flee or fight back if it is realistic to do so.
- Fear RP becomes mandatory when two or more armed players are targeting a single individual. In this case the targeted player must comply fully.
- You may not hold a hostage for more than 20 minutes.
- You cannot use a fake or planted hostage who is complicit in the robbery.
- You cannot kill a compliant hostage.
- Consequence Class B–C.
3.5 Obscene Roleplay
- Obscene roleplay must always be conducted away from other players, in a private setting, with explicit OOC consent from all parties involved before it begins. Any party may withdraw consent at any time, and the scene must stop.
- The following are absolutely prohibited under any circumstances, regardless of consent:
- Rape or any form of non-consensual sexual roleplay.
- Any sexual or romantic roleplay involving characters who are, or are implied to be, minors.
- Bodily fluids roleplay in public or non-consensual contexts.
- Consequence Class D — Permanent ban for prohibited obscene RP.
04SERVER RULESCharacter Death
Character Death
4.1 New Life Rule (NLR)
- When your character is downed and respawns at hospital, they lose all memory of the events leading up to their death in that scenario.
- You may not return to the area where you died for at least 20 minutes after respawning.
- You may not attempt to retrieve any possessions lost in the scenario.
- You may not interact with the same individuals involved in the scenario during that 20-minute window.
- You must not respawn if you have been informed that Police or EMS are on their way to your location.
- While incapacitated, you must attempt to contact emergency services if it is realistically possible for your character to do so.
- You may regain knowledge of what happened if another player who was present at the scene tells you, but this must be roleplayed properly and should be recorded as proof.
- Revenge killing, creating or using any character to kill the person or group responsible for a previous death, is strictly forbidden.
- Consequence Class B.
4.2 Character Kill (CK)
- A Character Kill is the permanent, irreversible death of a character. It ends that character's story entirely.
- A CK must be carried out as part of a deliberate, staff-approved storyline.
- Requirements for an Approved CK:
- There must be a clear, logical chain of roleplay events leading up to the CK. Hearsay and OOC knowledge do not count.
- The CK must be submitted through a support ticket on the website, outlining the full storyline, the RP history, and why the CK is narratively justified.
- Staff will review and approve or deny based on story quality and realism, not personal preference.
- The character being targeted for a CK will not be informed in advance. This is to prevent players avoiding roleplay once they learn they are a target.
- After a CK:
- You may create a new character, but that new character cannot be related to the deceased character in any in-character way.
- If your character was in a gang or faction when CK'd and you wish to rejoin that faction, your new character must begin as a standard member and work their way up. They cannot return as a leader.
- You may not use a new character to seek revenge for your CK'd character.
- Consequence Violation of CK rules: Class B–D.
05SERVER RULESEmergency Services
Emergency Services
5.1 EMS Rules
- EMS must be treated with respect at all times. Harassing, killing, or robbing EMS workers without a clear and exceptional in-character reason will be treated as RDM.
- EMS are a protected presence on scene. Once EMS arrive at a location, active conflict in that immediate area should be wound down. The scene is considered effectively concluded for that exchange.
- You may not steal EMS vehicles.
- You must fully roleplay all injuries; EMS are not a respawn button. Medical treatment takes time and must be acted upon properly.
- Do not spam emergency calls or press the panic button repeatedly.
- While incapacitated, use the correct call channel to alert EMS. Provide your character's full name, location, and nature of injury.
- Hospitals are green zones. Do not bring conflict into or directly outside a hospital.
- Consequence Killing EMS without valid RP reason: Class C–D.
5.2 Police Department Rules
- All players must treat police roleplay with the seriousness it deserves. Law enforcement interactions should be treated as you would treat them in real life.
- You must eventually yield to a police pursuit; extended chases that serve no narrative purpose are poor roleplay.
- Police may stop, question, search, or detain your character at any time if there are reasonable grounds to do so.
- You cannot take a police officer hostage unless there are at least three officers on duty and your group outnumbers the officer.
- You may not bait police, deliberately provoking them without narrative justification (e.g. performing donuts next to an officer or running red lights repeatedly in front of them).
- You cannot steal police vehicles or equipment without valid roleplay context. Body cameras and dash cameras may be taken via a proper /me command.
- You may not impersonate a police officer in any way, including wearing police clothing while not employed by the department.
- Officers may use lethal force if a player is deemed a genuine threat to public safety.
- Force-quitting the game during a police encounter will be treated as combat logging.
- Consequence Class B–D depending on severity.
5.3 Emergency Services Calls
- When calling emergency services, your call must be realistic and detailed. Provide:
- Your character's full name.
- Your exact location.
- A clear description of the situation.
- Example (Police): 'My name is James Harlow. I am outside Paddington Station. There are two men in black jackets engaged in a visible altercation, and one appears to be armed. Please send officers immediately.'
- Example (EMS): 'My name is Sarah Okafor. I'm on Commercial Road, Whitechapel. There is a male collapsed on the pavement, unresponsive with a faint pulse. Please send medical assistance.'
- Calls such as 'my man's down, come quick' are not acceptable and will not be acknowledged.
06SERVER RULESGame Mechanics & Technical Rules
Game Mechanics & Technical Rules
6.1 Abuse of Game Physics
- GTA V's physics and movement mechanics are hardcoded and cannot be altered via scripting. The following are forbidden to prevent unrealistic scenarios:
- Bunnyhopping, jumping repeatedly while running to gain speed during an active situation.
- Spam punching, rapidly clicking to strike without giving the other player a chance to react.
- Combat rolling, rolling during shootouts.
- Olympic swimming, swimming extended distances without roleplaying exhaustion.
- Abusing job vehicles, spawning a job vehicle to evade police or gain an unfair advantage.
- Emote cancellation exploits, cancelling animations to avoid falls, produce spam attacks, or bypass weapon draw animations.
- Cancelling weapon pull-out animations is not permitted.
- Shooting while using a radio, carrying someone, or being on crutches is not permitted.
- Consequence Class A.
6.2 Third-Party Modifications
- Any mod, script, or software that gives one player an advantage over another is forbidden. Client-side modifications are permitted only for aesthetic purposes and must never alter gameplay function.
- Forbidden: mods, trainers, external crosshairs, tracers, unlimited stamina, non-standard monitor aspect ratios, speed hacks, or any exploit tool.
- Prop mods are strictly prohibited. You must have all default props active within the city.
- Third-person FOV modifications are forbidden.
- First-person FOV modifications are permitted.
- Realistic blood modifications are permitted provided they do not provide any tactical advantage.
- Any discovery of an exploit or bug must be reported to staff immediately. Using it instead will result in a permanent ban.
- Consequence Class D — Permanent ban for cheating.
6.3 Vehicles
- Do not drive in an unrealistic manner, including stunt jumps, driving up impossibly steep terrain, or sustaining speeds completely inconsistent with traffic conditions.
- Do not dump your vehicle in water to preserve its contents during a police chase.
- Vehicle sales must be realistic. Players may add a maximum of £25,000 to any vehicle's stock price when selling. Exceeding this is prohibited.
- Consequence Class B + Character Wipe for vehicle price violations.
6.4 Clipping Requirements
- You must have clipping software active at all times while in the city. Without footage, no reports can be processed and no reimbursements will be issued.
- Accepted clipping software: NVIDIA ShadowPlay and AMD ReLive only. No other software will be accepted.
- Clips submitted for reports must be a minimum of two minutes in length and must include audio on both ends of the interaction.
- You must not be violating any server rules in your own clip for it to be considered valid for a report.
- When requesting a player's POV, post your own clip first (at least 20 seconds before the incident).
- Reimbursement tickets must be opened within 48 hours of the incident. Tickets opened after this window will be denied.
6.5 Green Zones (No Crime Zones)
- Green zones are areas where no criminal activity may take place. If a player you are pursuing flees into a green zone, the roleplay may continue — but do not wait outside green zones to initiate crimes.
- Green zones include:
- All government offices and law enforcement offices.
- All hospitals, including the surrounding streets.
- All car dealerships.
- All banks (interiors).
- Spawn locations.
- Clothing stores, tattoo shops, and barber shops (interiors).
- Parking garages and impound lots.
- Player-owned businesses (interiors and connected parking, when open).
- Server events, unless otherwise stated by staff.
- Mechanic shops (interiors).
- Note: Saying 'come out of the green zone' or referencing green zones in character is OOC and is a bannable offence. Your character exists in the real world; there are no green zones for them.
- Consequence Class B.
07SERVER RULESCharacter Creation & Identity
Character Creation & Identity
7.1 Character Standards
- Your character must have a realistic name that could plausibly belong to a real person. Troll or joke names will be rejected.
- Your character must have visible customisation, no default peds.
- If you play a female character, you must be on a female ped. Male players may not use female peds to access female-specific items or activities.
- No troll characters. Put genuine effort into your character's background and appearance.
- You may not wear police or EMS clothing if you are not employed by those departments.
- Bulletproof helmets are not permitted, as they provide an unfair tactical advantage.
- You must wear a bag, holster, or appropriate concealment for any large weapon you are carrying. Visible carry of large weapons without concealment is not permitted.
7.2 Multiple Characters
- A player may have multiple characters, but those characters may not be used to benefit the same storyline or share information across characters.
- If one of your characters is CK'd from a gang or faction, any new character you create may not be related to the previous one and must start from the bottom of the faction hierarchy if you wish to re-join.
- Consequence Class B.
08SERVER RULESPunishment Framework
Punishment Framework
The following classes are the baseline for punishments. Staff have full discretion to escalate or reduce punishments based on context, repeat offences, and the overall impact on the server's roleplay environment.
| Class | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Class A | Verbal Warning / Admin Jail / 8–12 Hour Ban |
| Class B | 1–6 Day Ban |
| Class C | 7–21 Day Ban |
| Class D | Permanent Ban — Ability to Appeal |
| Class E | Permanent Ban — Non-Appealable |
Note: Repeat offenders will be escalated regardless of the base class of the original offence. A history of violations will be taken into account with every ruling.
8.1 Reporting a Rule Violation
- Use /report in-game with a clip to flag an issue. Alternatively, raise a ticket on our support page.
- Reports must be submitted within 48 hours of the incident.
- All parties involved in a report must remain professional. Arguing in reports or under other reports will result in additional punishment.
- If you feel you have been treated unfairly, comply with the admin decision first, then raise a formal appeal through the correct channel.
8.2 Reimbursements
- Reimbursements are only granted when a rule violation against you is confirmed by staff.
- You must provide a valid clip clearly showing what was lost.
- You must not be breaking any server rules in the clip.
- You must be the victim, not a participant who reacted and escalated.
- Reimbursement tickets must be opened within 48 hours of the incident.
